Immunization:
Ministry wants Rs 200 m
The Healthcare and Nutrition Ministry has requested Rs.200 million
from the Treasury to commence an advertising campaign to strengthen the
National Immunization Program, a Ministry spokesman said.
According to the spokesman, around 80 percent of the program has
crashed due to the Opposition’s mud slinging campaign during the
Presidential Election. “Because of this, parents had lost trust on the
National Immunization Program and do not bring their children for
immunization,” the spokesman said.
During the recent Presidential Election, the Opposition used the
State health sector as one of its main targets and did everything
possible to destroy public confidence in National Immunization Program.
The ministry handed over investigations to the CID, after initial
investigations revealed a conspiracy.
A crusade was carried out by the Opposition and certain media
institutions against the State health sector fabricating stories based
on certain incidents such as the deaths of two schoolgirls who received
rubella vaccine, some dengue deaths and other issues.
