Nuwani Navodya for Youth Olympic Games

The talented Teenage Table Tennis player Nuwani Navodya has been
selected for the first ever Youth Olympic Games to be held in Singapore
from August 14 to 26, 2010. She is the only player to take part in the
Table Tennis event for Sri Lanka in this mega international sporting
event.
Nuwani Navodya of Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda was adjudged the
All Island Ranked number one player for the Open Women’s Singles Under
15 Girls Singles and Under 18 Girls Singles in the last year.
A 14 years old gifted player Nuwani Navodya, represented Sri Lanka in
several International TT tournaments.
She took part in the Tai Yuan International Junior Open Table Tennis
Championship in China 2005 and ended up in fifth position. It was her
first tour.
Last year Nuwani had the opportunity of participating in five foreign
tours She took part in the South Asian Junior Table Tennis Championship
held in Karachi Pakistan in July and bagged the cadet team’s Silver
Medal. She also participated in the first Asian Youth Games, Singapore
in July last year and she bagged the cadet team’s Silver Medal in the
South Asian Junior Table Tennis Championship which was held in Jaipur,
India.
She participated as a National team member in the 19th Asian Table
Tennis Championship held in Lucknow, India last year.
The Youth Olympic Games Table Tennis Events will be worked off at the
Singapore Indoor Stadium. |
