No election malpractices, says UPFA General Secy
Education Minister Susil Premjayanth who is also the UPFA General
Secretary said there was no election fraud or irregularities on the day
of the Presidential Election and until the election results were
announced.
Speaking at an election felicitation ceremony at the Education
Ministry on Monday, Minister Premjayanth said he as the UPFA General
Secretary, met the Elections Commissioner on several occasions where
secretaries and lawyers representing other political parties were
present.
During these discussions, matters relating to poll rigging did not
rise. Government officials including large number of teachers were
involved in election duties, the Minister said. They never spoke of poll
rigging or malpractices. The people have given a correct verdict to
politicians who unsuccessfully attempted to cook up various kinds of
false election malpractices, the Minister said.
These politicians are now finding it difficult to come to terms with
the false charges of these so-called election malpractices, Premjayanth
said. People will soon be able to see the benefits of development
programs under the Mahinda Chintana, he said. |
