ASPI marks 3700 point

The indices at the Colombo Stock Exchange closed higher as the key benchmark ASPI closed up 18 points (+0.5 percent) to end at 3,709. The more liquid MPI closed up 6 points (+0.2 percent) to end the day at 4,265.

Turnover for the day was Rs 1.6 billion with NDB Bank recording Rs 101 million in turnover. The share closed up Rs 4.25 to Rs 215.00.

Seylan Bank non voting shares closed up Rs 1.00 to Rs 23.00 on turnover of Rs 98 million while the voting share was down Rs 1.00 to Rs 47.75. John Keells Holdings closed the day at Rs 175.25, down Rs 1.00 while Aitken Spence & Co closed down by Rs 81.75 to Rs 1,358.25.

Asian markets were mixed with the Nikkei 225 up 1.6 percent and the Hang Seng up 0.1 percent.

The Chinese CSI Index was down 0.2 percent, while the Singapore index was down 0.6 percent. In India, the BSE came down 1.2 percent.
