Yatinuwara people have shown gratitude

The people of Yatinuwara electorate have endorsed the policies of President Mahinda Rajapaksa by returning him with a majority of 10,000 votes at the Presidential Election, said Central Province Governor and SLFP Chief Organiser for the Yatinuwara Electorate Tikiri Kobbekaduwa said.

Kobbekaduwa told the Daily News that in 1982 when late Hector Kobbekaduwa as the Presidential Candidate with Yatinuwara as his traditional base lost the electorate by 2,500 votes. But the voters have turned around five times over to register a victory by 10,000 votes.

The Yatinuwara people have shown their gratitude to President Rajapaksa by giving him a resounding victory. The overall victory by President Mahinda Rajapaksa is a vote of confidence of his policies and his endeavours to crush terrorism from raising its head again.

He did the impossible by annihilating terrorism when many thought this was not possible, he added.

The present regime under President Mahinda Rajapaksa's guidance has done a lot for the Yatinuwara electorate.

Roads had been constructed in 95 villages in the electorate.

The electorate has been developed in many ways which was earlier confined to towns and cities.

Agriculture especially paddy cultivation and tea has been given a boost as Yatinuwara electorate has the highest number of Tea Small Holders and they are now fetching a good price for their harvest.
