Credit card forger arrested

Police arrested a suspect who purchased goods on a stolen credit card belonging to an American citizen. The suspect who was from Kantale was arrested opposite the Fort Railway station on Monday evening.

Police spokesman SSP I.M. Karunaratne said the suspect was arrested on a tip off by an officer of a private bank where he had used the credit card to purchase a motorcycle worth Rs.195,500 and settled a night Club Bill amounting to Rs.185,000.

The card had been forged. The suspect aged, 31, was a resident of Kantale.

He has a forged National Identity Card to show a different ethnicity.

The motorcycle has been seized in the Malabe area on information provided by the suspect.

The suspect was produced before the Kaduwela Magistrate yesterday for an identification parade.
