Dividends for TSF shareholders

he distribution of Rs 30.7 million dividends to the Tea Shakthi Fund
(TSF) numbering 94,000 shareholders will begin on the second week of
February, Plantation Industries Minister D.M. Jayaratne told the Daily
News yesterday. Minister Jayaratne said this would be the third occasion
of distributing dividends to TSF shareholders.

The total share value of Tea Shakthi is Rs 209 million and the
percentage of the dividend is 15 percent, he added.
TSF is an organization which is financed and owned by Tea
Smallholders with the objective of harnessing the full potential of a
large community of enterprising small tea cultivators in the country.
TSF operates a network of 1,200 strong tea smallholders’ societies ,
covering a tea growing population of 1.5 million, spanning over 188,000
hectares in 14 districts.
Contribution to the national production from smallholder sector was
74 percent in 2008.The tea small holding sector has expanded both in
area and number of holdings in 2009. |
