Large sums to buy members - JNP
Lakshmi de Silva
Over a long period of time some politicians in the payroll of certain
foreign powers used large sums of money to buy certain members of the
legislature to assist in their anti-national agendas. The case of trying
to buy over our Member of Parliament Mohamed Muzzamil was one such
attempted crime and we are going to take appropriate legal steps
tomorrow, JNP leader Wimal Weerawansa said yesterday.
Addressing a press conference at the JNP office Battaramulla
Weerawansa played the recorded voice tapes of conversations between
Myown Mustapaha. Ravi Karunanayake and Malik Samarawickrama with Mohamed
Muzzamil.
He said in addition to the large sum of money – in bundles of two
thousand and thousand rupee currency notes not counted - as yet other
things too were given to Muzzamil. These things will be produced before
the proper authorities, he noted.
The number of persons who had crossed over to the NDF would have been
bought over by the same elements who are attempting to destabilize the
country.
Certain western embassies were behind Ranil Wickremesinghe and the
NDF candidate was only a front man. Their objective was to bring
President Mahinda Rajapaksa before the international guillotine as he
had defeated their pet the LTTE terrorists.
When NDF candidate Sarath Fonseka and TNA leader R.Sampanthan signed
the pact to betray the country LTTE sympathizers and activists in the
west had held celebrations over it, dancing for joy. However when the
armed forces defeated terrorists people in their millions irrespective
of their party affiliations hoisted national flags in joy. Those people
cannot be bought for dirty money of the corrupt anti-national
politicians, he noted.
JNP Parliamentarian Muzzammil associated with Wimal Weerawansa said
he accepted the bribe deceiving the UNP members who had asked him to
cross over the DNF camp only to expose their dishonest political scheme
to the public.
He interpreted the taped Tamil conversations to Sinhala he said he
had with Myown Mustapha. He further said there were discussions on an
offer of Rs 30 million bribe to cross over to the NDF.
He had taken a risk but was determined to expose the anti-national
elements who were betraying the country. |
