Maha Sangha should be united to safeguard Motherland

Bounden duty, obligation and responsibility:

It is the bounden duty, obligation and responsibility of all patriotic members of the Maha Sangha to support President Mahinda Rajapaksa who could uphold the prestige of our motherland with a dignified history of over 2,500 years , the Galle district Thrainikayika Bikshu Ekathuwa observes.

These observations were made in a public statement issued at the grand convention of Buddhist monks of the Galle district held at the Galle Dharmapala Park last Saturday.

The Maha Sangha to participate in the convention gathered at the Vidyaloka Pirivena, Galle from where they marched in procession to participate in the convention held in support of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

It also points out that the foreign imperial forces and their allies have joined hands to undermine the remarkable victory over most merciless separatist terrorism obtained after immense sacrifices and once again try to sow the seeds of separatism and disunity among the peaceful and united masses of the motherland. It further urges the Maha Sangha to be united in the struggle to safeguard the motherland from the vicious and treacherous enemies both internal and external.

Several political leaders including Minister Piyasena Gamage, Deputy Minister Lionel Premasiri, Parliamentarian Chandima Weerakkodi, Galle Mayor Methsiri De Silva and Provincial Council Ministers U.G.D. Ariyathilaka.

S.P. Councillor Ven. Baddegama Samitha Thera, Chief Sanghanayaka of USA Ven. Pamburavala Revatha Thera, Ven. Kirindiela Somarathana Thera, Sabaragamuwa Province Governor Janaka Bandara and Dr. Asoka Amarasena also spoke.
