Cricket balls distributed in Jaffna
Eleven schools involved in the under 19 schools season in Jaffna were
recipients of cricket balls distributed by Sri Lanka Cricket in their
objective of supporting and encouraging all schools in the Island.
Chairman D. S. de Silva also visited four venues, with the view of
developing a district ground in which all institutions have an equal
opportunity to practise and play matches, including their traditional
big games.
The distribution centre in Jaffna was St Patrick's College and all
recipients were in attendance to receive the balls. Chairman Sri Lanka
Cricket was accompanied by M. T. A. Rauf, Secretary of Sri Lanka Schools
Cricket Association, while Rev. Fr. Jaro Selvanayagam Principal of St
Patrick's and Susitharan, Secretary of Jaffna District Cricket
Association also officiated at the function. 521 Schools in 9 provinces
have received cricket balls for the ongoing current season.
