Trinity fight back to beat Holy Cross by eight wickets

Trinity College, Kandy staged a good rally to defeat Holy Cross College, Kalutara by eight wickets in their schools under 19 cricket tournament match concluded at the Kalutara Esplanade yesterday.

Trinity College surprisingly conceded a first innings lead of 24 runs to their weaker opponents whose innings was propped up by a fine knock of 97 with 5 fours and a six by Nuwan Maduwantha. If not for this solid innings Holy Cross would have been in deep trouble.

Trinity College having lost on first innings, hit back strongly in the second innings by dismissing their opponents for 125. Left arm spinner Aamil Anaz once again bowled well to capture a match bag of 6 for 65 following his match haul of 8 wickets in their last match against Dharamaraja College over the weakened. The Lions were set a victory target of 150 in 42 overs. They went for the kill and reached their target in just 20.2 overs.
