More weapons recovered

Police recovered a large stock of arms and ammunition in two different locations in the East following a search operation on Monday. Police spokesman SSP I.M. Karunaratna said following information, the Muttur police launched a search operation and uncovered a cache of arms and ammunition in Ganeshapuram on Monday at around 1.30pm.

He said they recovered six, 60mm mortar bombs, five hand grenades, three AP mines, three gelignite sticks, 600 of 60mm mortar chargers, 758 of T56 ammunition, 60 GPMG ammunition, a T56 magazine, a part of SMG weapon, a webbing kit, an LTTE police cap badge, three LTTE dog tags and a stock of plates and cups.
