‘Conspiracy to topple government’

The US and other capitalist countries smarting under their failure to stop the war and prevent the total defeat of the LTTE have hatched a conspiracy to topple the Mahinda Rajapaksa government by getting a retired general to contest at the forthcoming Presidential election, said Southern Provincial Council member and LSSP politburo member Ven. Dr. Baddegama Samitha Thera in a statement issued yesterday.

The statement added that the people would have to undergo economic, social, political and environmental crises for a very long period if an American prophet is elected to power at the forthcoming election.

Therefore the intelligent masses of this country should be fully alert to the conspiracies hatched by international forces at this decisive moment which decides the future of this country, Ven. Samitha Thera said.

The statement said the international conspiracy against the Rajapaksa government was proved by a report on Sri Lanka dated December 7, 2009 submitted to the US Senate by the State Committee on Foreign Relations. The report titled ‘Sri Lanka-rechanting US strategy after the war 07-12-2009” was formulated by three foreigners who arrived here and a Sri Lankan woman.

The report had stated that after winning a 30 year war Sri Lanka has distanced itself from the United States and showed that the US is displeased with the recent victories gained by Sri Lanka such as the defeat of terrorism, killing of Prabhakaran and the construction of the Hambantota International Port. All this would cause problems to Europe and the western world.
