Fight between patriots and traitors

National Freedom Front Leader Wimal Weerawansa said yesterday, former Chief of Defence Staff General Sarath Fonseka in connivance with the UNP– JVP bandwagon is attempting to take the Security Forces before the International War Crime Tribunal after his inevitable defeat at the forthcoming Presidential election.

Wimal Weerawansa

He said the retired Chief of Defence Staff has undertaken this treacherous contract at a time the country is rising from the ashes of 30-year conflict.

The external forces that stood against the Government’s move to eradicate terrorism in the country are behind Fonseka to take revenge from President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Security Forces’ leaders.

He said the forthcoming presidential election is a fight between the forces who truly love the Motherland and traitors. The external forces wanted to teach a lesson to the President who did not give into their pressure and stop the humanitarian operation to free the innocent civilians from the terrorists.

Weerawansa said Fonseka is with traitors who hatched various conspiracies to stop the humanitarian mission against the terrorists.

He said Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe was attempting to stop the Government’s mission to eradicate terrorism by levelling baseless allegations against the Government in the international platform while parliamentarian Mano Ganeshan and Rauff Hakeem were conniving with the LTTE terrorists.

The NFF leader said Fonseka has said that he can get best advices from the UNP for the development of the country’s economy.

Weerawansa said Fonseka is going to take advice from the UNP which attempted to destroy the country’s aged old culture and rites and rituals under the Regaining Sri Lanka Program.

The NFF leader added that late President J.R. Jayewardene made use of powers enshrined in the executive presidency to gag the media and suppress the forces that stood against him and his government.
