Horlicks recognizes brightest scholarship students
Horlicks, one of Sri Lanka's leading consumer brands and a brand of
GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare (GSK), recently held a special
awards presentation for students who obtained the highest marks at the
Grade five scholarship exams held in August 2009.
The event was held in the presence of GSK Consumer Healthcare
Managing Director Sachi Thomas and other dignitaries.
'Horlicks Smart Pass' is a worthy initiative implemented by GSK to
provide all students facing the Grade five Scholarship examinations an
equal opportunity to vie for a better education despite their
circumstances.
As a result Horlicks organized tutorial seminars across the island
conducted by renowned tutors to prepare the participants to answer the
examination papers with confidence.
In addition to the seminars, students were also able to coach
themselves by answering the tutorial sheets offered with each 400g pack
of Horlicks.
GSK Consumer Healthcare Managing Director Sachi Thomas said, "We
firmly believe that children need to be empowered to build up their
lives from an early start and commit ourselves to offering our support
to them.
The Grade five Scholarship examination is the first significant step
that children will take in their lives unlocking new possibilities for
their future development. Giving all children in Sri Lanka an equal
opportunity to better their futures is something that makes us all feel
better and as a result we initiated Horlicks Smart Pass to put this into
action.
We are pleased to recognize these young achievers and hope to
continue this project in the coming years as well.
The prizes awarded were carefully selected to help and augment the
scholarly development of children and were awarded to the winners at the
awards presentation.
The highest scoring student from each province was awarded with a
desktop computer while those in second and third positions received gift
vouchers from M.D. Gunasena. In addition to these prizes each student
was awarded a certificate from GlaxoSmithKline to mark their
achievement. |
