Diluka and Dinuka Karunarathne scored a shock win over Niluka Karunarathne and Eranga Fernando in the men's doubles semi final on the second day of the 57th Senior Badminton Nationals. The duo beat Niluka and Eranga convingcingly 21/16, 21/11.

In the other semi final match Hasith Chanaka and R.S Dahanayake were through to the finals when they defeated Harsha Perera and Amila Fernando 24/22, 21/16.

In the women's doubles quarter finals, under 15 champions Upuli Samanthika and Achini Ratnasisri emerged victorious by beating the experienced pair of Thilini Jayasinghe and Oshadie Kuruppu 25/23, 21/18. The pick of the games was the match between Subodha Dahanayake and Gayani Perera who met Puneesha Pasquel and Kavindi Ishadika in an absorbing contest. Subodha and Gayani managed to sneak a win in a nail biter beating Puneesha and Kavindi 19/21, 21/17, 23/21.
