Athugalpura Rotary Child Art Workshop

A workshop on Child Art was conducted by the Rotary Club of Athugalpura at Wayamba Pre-School Teacher Training College Kurunegala. The main sponsor was Pentium 2000 stationeries (Pvt) Ltd.

The resource personal of the workshop were, three lecturers from National College of Education Giragama. The Rotarians who participated were Rtn, L. B. Herath, Rtn. Chaminda, Rtn. Chandrasiri, Rtn. Asela Rathnayake, Rtn. Nandana and Rtn. Mahiti. Vocational Service Director L. B. Hearth initiated and played a vital role in implementing this project.

 

 

 


Lions Club of Colombo West treat kids of Sadasarana Home

Christmas is mainly for children. It is our duty as members of service clubs to treat destitute children with Christmas gifts and entertainment, said President, Lions Club of Colombo West, Lion Ashroff Hussain.

He was taking part as the chief guest at a Christmas pasty organised by his club for the little ones of Sadasarana Home, Koswatte, Nawala.

We should share the joy of Christmas with children who deserve the care of elders, specially the destitute kids who are confined to children’s homes, Lion Ashroff Hussain said.

All children of Sadasarana Home we treated to food, music and entertainment by members of the Lions Club of Colombo West, Christmas gifts too were presented to the little who spent a very happy evening with the Lions of the Lions Clubs of Colombo West.


PDG Lion Rohantha rewarded for services rendered to Buddha Sasana

PDG Lion Rohantha de Fonseka has been conferred with a title Sri Sambuddha Sasana Vibushana Lanka Putra Sannas Patra.

It was conferred by the working committee of the Amarapura Nikaya headed by Swarnamali Viharadhipathi, Sri Devananda Dhammakusala Wansalankara Thripitaka Vageeswaracharya Chandrakeerthi Sri Panditha Sastravedi Mahopadya, Ambalangoda, Sri Sumangala Thera, the Chief Incumbent of Amarapura Maha Nikaya Dharmapala Temple, Mount Lavinia. PDG Lion Rohantha de Fonseka was rewarded for his continuous service rendered to the Buddha Sasana and for the community of Panadura. This is the first time that such an honorary title was conferred to a Lion and citizen of Panadura by the Amarapura Nikaya.

German Lion to construct Maternity Ward and Pre-school at Darga Town

Following a request made by Chairman of Beruwala Pradeshiya Sabhawa Susantha Sanjeewa, German based Lions Club member Keneliya Milton agreed to construct a maternity ward and a pre-school which were the long felt need of the people in Darga Town and the surrounding areas.

The Aluthgama Golden Jubilee Lions Club will provide sponsorship to the project. This maternity ward at Dharga Town will be of immense value to expectant mothers. The pre school too will help kids of the area to receive their pre school education.

 

 

 


Fingara Club to usher in New Year on Grand Scale

Fingara Club, Rattanapitiya Boralesgamuwa has made elaborate plans to celebrate the new year on a colourful note.

With peace prevailing after 30 years members of the Fingara Club will celebrate a peaceful 31st Night on a grand scale. A gala dinner at the Banquet Hall has been arranged for Club members, with scintillating music provided by Mahinda Silva and Super Stars, for dancing. Raffle draws, competitions, fun and fluoric, panty favours for every table and many more surprises are on the cards.

Winner of competitions will receive valuable prizes.

New Year’s eve Dinner Dance at Fingara Club will certainly turn out to be a glittering event this year says General Manager Fingara Club, R. P. Pushpakumara.


Rotary Club of Kandy Mission for Vision


Picture shows a group of patients operated for cataract, which was facilitated by Rotary Club of Kandy and implemented by the Rotary Club of Wariyapola.

Mission for Vision - Avoidable Blindness - reaches the poor rural areas of the country to provide the gift of sight by way of facilitating cataract surgeries.

The project also provided spectacles free of charge to those who do not have easy access to the medial institutions in the developed areas of the country. This is an on-going project of the Rotary Club of Kandy.

Colombo West and Colombo Cosmopolitan Lions Christmas treat for Camilla kids

Lions Club of Colombo West and Lions Club of Colombo Cosmopolitan accorded a Christmas party to the children of Camilla school, Mattegoda.

Gifts were distributed to the children and cash was presented to the staff for their hard work done in caring for the kids of Camilla school.

Rotary Club of Athugalpura Donation of wheel chair
 

A wheel chair was donated to a 19 year old boy in Balalle by the Rotary Club of Athugalpura. The chair was donated at a community corps meeting held at the Balalle Temple.
