Development, prosperity during second term

Fuel, gas resources to be utilized:

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has planned to steer the country towards development and prosperity during his second term by utilising the country’s fuel and gas resources said Urban Development and Sacred area Development Minister Dinesh Gunawardena when he opened a UPFA election office at Kottawa junction on Wednesday.

Minister Gunawardena said certain political parties hired by the UNP was trying to buckle the Presidents efforts by engaging in a sinister mud slinging campaign against him.

Gunawardena said in 2005, the people entrusted this country to the President by electing him to office. At a time when the country has been united under a single banner and the people have joined hands to realise their development goals by entrusting the country to the President for a further six year term.

A retired general was trying to betray the country in league with reactionary forces and their agents. All patriotic forces led by the Maha Sangha had come forward to thwart such efforts and ensure President Rajapaksa’s victory at the forthcoming elections.
