Youth safe with mature leader

Opportunist politicians who called themselves liberators have led youth along the garden path to achieve their petty political objectives.

Youth who followed in their footsteps had to end up on tyre pyres, said Tharunyata Hetak president Namal Rajapaksa at a youth assembly at Pushpadana hall, Kandy on December 26. Rajapaksa said a large number of innocent youth had to suffer this fate because they did not have a proper leadership. Rajapaksa said youth in this country should rally round a leader who could obtain their contribution towards national development goals without falling prey to the machinations of opportunist politicians.

He said President Mahinda Rajapaksa was a sensitive and mature leader who could offer a proper value to the youth and grant them their due place in society.
