The eradication of LTTE terrorists who attacked the Anuradhapura
Sacred Bo-Tree and massacred hundreds of pilgrims was quite adequate for
the people to usher President Mahinda Rajapaksa into his second term of
office at the forthcoming Presidential Elections, said Foreign
Employment Promotion Minister Keheliya Rambukwella.
He said so participating at the annual 'Great Bodhi Tree pilgrimage
and Bodhi Wandana Perahera' opposite the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi,
Anuradhapura yesterday.
The religious observances had been arranged for the commemoration of
the completion of 2,317 year since the bringing of the sacred Bo sapling
from India and the completion of 40 years for the construction of Ran
Weta (Gold Fence).
Rambukwella, said it was marvellous and splendid to watch that
devotees belonging to whatever religion were completely free and at
liberty to travel to any corner of the country and worship the Shrine
rooms as they wish, a facility of which people had been deprived of
before May 18. He said the people of the country irrespective of their
nationality religion, cast creed or race have been made the true heirs
of the country. |
