Rains in North, reservoirs full

The heavy rains experienced in the North during the past several days had resulted in filling up all irrigation reservoirs. Farmers will be able to cultivate all paddy lands in Vavuniya and elsewhere during the current Maha season.

The A9 road was inundated with flood waters during the past few days while the A32 road was flooded from Jayapuram Junction to Pooneryn stopping traffic movement during the rains. Farmers said they will be able to cultivate their paddy fields in the next Yala season.
