SRAMO supports President Rajapaksa

For the past 59 years as members of the medical profession we observed political neutrality. After considering the defeat of terrorism and the development in the country our association has now decided to support President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Presidential Election, the Society of Registered and Assistant Medical Officers (SRAMO) Secretary said yesterday.

Addressing a press conference Secretary Dr. Mahinda Liyanage said most of their members have about 25 years of experience in the health sector. “During this period we have seen how our national leaders conducted national problems. President Rajapaksa not only defeated terrorism but also took bold decisions to start mega development projects like Norochcholai or Upper Kotmale power plants that other leaders delayed for political expediency,” he said.

As doctors most of the people who visited us often spoke their minds on personal affairs. Therefore we will explain to them the importance of re-electing President Mahinda Rajapaksa as he was the most courageous and dedicated leader whose mission of development should be fulfilled for the progress of the country,” he said.

Our generation sent their children abroad for education as they feared to keep their children here. We remember the time when we feared to stop our vehicles at the red signal at the traffic lights. Our subordinates told us that when their families travel in trains all of them do not take the same compartment but get into different bogeys so that in the event of a bomb blast the whole family will not be killed, Dr. Liyanage said.

“Usually we consider the election time as a time of relaxation but during the present election campaign our society is going to work on a plan. Each member of the society will at least meet 300 persons who are known to them and impress on them the service rendered by President Mahinda Rajapaksa,” he added.
