Nepotism served UNP leader - Weerawansa

Fonseka reiterates his allegation:

NFF Leader Wimal Weerawansa said Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe who has pledged to end nepotism of politicians is the first person who secured undue advantage by entering politics due to his close relationship with the then UNP Leader President JR Jayewardene.

Trade, Marketing Development, Cooperatives and Consumer Services Minister Bandula Gunawardene said that sufficient stocks of rice, potatoes and onions have reached Colombo over the weekend.

Resettlement only in demined places

The Government will not allow re-settlement unless the people are provided with liveable conditions, Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayake said. Certain foreign conspirators put the Government into difficulties by demanding the re-settlement of IDPs, liberated areas, he said.

It was brisk business for these traders selling Christmas trees, a familiar sight every year in the Town Hall area. This year is special as people are eager to celebrate the first Christmas on a grand scale after the dawn of peace. Daily News Business interviewed some of the Christmas tree traders for their views. Most of them said that compared to the previous years, this year’s business was impressive and that they will have the best business today as most of the people buy their Christmas trees a day before the Christmas day as a habit.
