Adequate stocks of fish

Adequate stocks of fish would be made available to all regional
centres of Ceylon Fisheries Corporation(CFC) during the festive seasons.
The CFC has made arrangements to dispatch adequate stocks to meet the
demand of customers at the regional level.
Commenting on the scarcity of fish in the market during this season
due to the prevailing bad weather conditions , a CFC official said the
corporation has engaged a mobile fleet to meet demand in predominant
Christian areas.
A kilogram of seer fish, tuna, mullet, paraw and prawns( big) will be
sold at Rs. 790, 220, 320, 300 and 620 respectively through all regional
stalls and mobile stalls of the CFC during the festive season. Large
stocks are available at the Modara CFC main stores for wholesale
dealers' the official said. "However prices of prawns , crabs , lobsters
are fairly high due to the demand by tourists, especially during the
Christmas and New year season, the official added. |
