Neglected road irks motorists

The Talatuoya-Ankelipitiya via Atulgama road in Hewaheta Pradeshiya
Sabha area, is in a state of disrepair. This road which has not been
repaired for few years, is full of large pot-holes, inconveniencing
motorists and pedestrians a like.
Meanwhile, the Kandy-Mahiyangana (A-26) road via Kaluntenna in the
Udadumbara Pradeshiya Sabha area is also in a state of disrepair. This
road which has not been repaired for few years.
No Sinhala teacher

There is no Sinhalese teacher at Hewaheta-Al-Hasna School and the
students are facing many problems.
The Sinhalese teacher attached to the school was transferred a year
ago and students have to travel to private schools to learn the
Sinhalese subject.
ACBC celebrates 90th anniversary
The All Ceylon Buddhist Congress completed its 90th anniversary
yesterday and arrangements were being made to mark this occasion by
holding a series of ceremonies at the its Headquarters at 380,
Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 07. These events took place in December 18,
19 and 20 at the Headquarters.
Mahanayake of Sri Lanka Amarapura Maha Nikaya Ven. Dawuladene
Gnanathissa thera presided over the final day ceremony.
Book launch
Professor Sunanda Mahendra’s latest collection of Sinhala narrative
poems titled Adurinduge Agamanaya will be launched at National Library
Services Auditorium at 3.30 pm today.
A discourse on ‘Towards a new Sinhala poetic Creative tradition’ will
be held with the participation of Prof. Siri Gunasinghe, Parakrama
Kodituwakku, Karunaratne Amarasinghe and Buddhadasa Galappatty.
