Father, daughter die in accident

A man and his daughter were killed while the son was admitted to Matara hospital with serious injuries, in a vehicle accident at Godawela, Baliatte on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Hewahakmanage Nandana (39), a trader from Beliatte and his daughter.

Meanwhile, a seven year boy was drowned at Polhena, Matara while he along with the parents was having a sea bath there on their way to Kataragama.

The child is identified as Kavishka Sasmal of Kotikawatte, Angoda.

Meanwhile, Weligama police reported two burglaries at Welipitiya and Denipitiya areas in Matara where the robbers had taken away household items and jewellery worth Rs. 223,000.
