Lankan judiciary has won people’s confidence - Minister

In a background where the Judicial process in certain countries has
led to controversy, the Sri Lanka Judiciary should be commended for
wining the people’s confidence, Plantation Industries Minister D.M.
Jayaratne said.
The smooth functioning of the Judicial process of a country will act
as a tool for strengthening its democracy, Minister Jayaratne added. He
was speaking at a ceremony after opening the entrance to a lawyers’
office building complex in Kandy constructed at a cost of Rs 15 million.
Most countries possess legal systems which had been established in
the colonial period. The proper implementation of law and order in a
country will lead to minimize conflicts among the people and the
society.
It creates an adequate atmosphere for the people to live without any
panic and suspicion in a country. Politicians, judges and lawyers should
protect the legal system of a country, he said.
Commenting on the military victory over LTTE terrorists, Minister
Jayaratne said the political leadership of President Mahinda Rajapaksa
given to the tri Forces should be appreciated and the prestige of
defeating terrorism goes to the President. |
