Opposition candidate showing false concern for minorities

Opposition Presidential candidate Sarath Fonseka spoke only of a
Sinhala regime while he was serving as the Army Commander. After
entering politics he has begun to show false concern over Tamils and
Muslims to win their votes. They will never fall prey to his gimmicks,
Tourism Promotion Minister Faizer Musthapha said.
Though the SLMC supports the Opposition candidate, its leader Rauff
Hakeem has no vote base among the Muslims, he said at a public rally at
Akurana, Kandy yesterday.
The main objective of the common opposition front is to defeat the
President and it has no other motive for the benefit of the country. The
UNP and the JVP are expressing opposite views while Hakeem and Mano
Ganeshan are expressing some other ideas: This clearly shows that the
Opposition front will be a short listed one.
They say this election is not to form a Government. They have also
promised a salary increase of Rs. 10,000 to Government servants.
However, this will not be an easy task. People too can never be fooled
by these false premises, Musthapha said. |
