Lanka-India sign MoU on Time Service project

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Indian Government and Sri Lankan Government on Time Service project was signed by Indian High Commissioner Ashok K. Kantha and Science and Technology Ministry Secretary M. B. A. Ekanayake on behalf of the

Government in Colombo yesterday. Under the MoU, the National Physical Laboratory (NPL), an Indian Government organisation under the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research of India along with Sir Arthur C. Clarke Institute for Modern Technologies in Sri Lanka will set up a GPS clock, a tele-clock transmitter and a tele-clock receiver. The instruments would be set up within the auspices of Sir Arthur C. Clarke Institute for Modern Technologies in Sri Lanka.

The instrument has been developed by the NPL and has been in operation in India for many years.
