The opening of the Knowledge Centre by Tigo Chief Financial Officer, Riyaaz Rasheed.

With a vision of enabling children to access knowledge, Tigo has selected some of the most deserving and deprived schools where they will set up a Tigo Knowledge Centre a reading library.

Most of the reading material available is relevant to the student's everyday academic lessons, thereby aiding them with the proper required knowledge to be well versed in these respective areas. With a mission aligned with Tigo's 'Three A strategy', this CSR project is one which focuses on Availability (access to knowledge readily available), Affordability (targeting children from low income earning families) and Accessibility (bringing knowledge to where the needs are).

In the first of a nine phase project, Tigo initiated its inaugural Knowledge Centre in the Ihala Thalduwa Kanishta Vidyalaya in Awissawella. The Centre was opened by Tigo Chief Financial Officer Riyaaz Rasheed.

"As a company that recognizes that knowledge is the foundation of tomorrow's generation and future professionals, Tigo takes pride in providing such opportunities through the Knowledge Centre," said Rasheed.

Hi-Green from Mega Lifesciences

Mega Lifesciences has introduced for the first time in Sri Lanka, a product that is ideally suited for weight management and weight control, Hi-Green.

"Excess body weight is implicated as a risk factor for many different disorders, including heart disease, diabetes, several cancers (such as breast cancer in post menopausal women and cancers of the uterus, colon and kidney), prostate enlargement (BPH), female infertility, uterine fibroids and gallstones as well as several disorders of pregnancy, including gestational diabetes, preeclampsia and gestational hypertension" said Mega Lifesciences Country Head, Praveen Viswakumaran, at the launch of Hi- Green.

Packed with 375 mg of active green tea, extracted from 2000mg of green tea leaves and presented in a capsule form for better palatability and convenience, daily consumption of Hi-Green for 12 weeks reduces body fat, while preventing or improving lifestyle related diseases.

"There is probably no other product which is more effective, safe, natural and time-tested than Hi-Green, since science and knowledge on green tea extracts date back to 2700 BC", said Viswakumaran.

Hi-Green works in three different ways to help achieve the targeted weight and give one a great body structure. "Hi Green increases energy expenditure of the body over 24 hours and improves energy utilization, breaks down excess fat by a process called lipolysis and helps shed extra body fat, increases the metabolic rate or thermo genesis and helps burn those extra calories to achieve the desired weight goals".

According to Viswakumaran, Hi-Green which contains active green tea extract, botanically known as Camellia sinensis is a very good choice for people on a weight-loss program because it can help them lead a healthier life.

"Consumption of green tea enhances health by increasing the energy expenditure and controlling body weight.

Its thermogenic effect is due to the presence of catechin-polyphenols as well as caffeine, resulting in increased thermogenic effect or fat burning. Fundamentally, there are only two ways to reduce weight: reduce calorie intake or increase energy expenditure (EE)".
