Sarath Fonseka’s statement condemned - YPBSL

The Young Professionals for Better Sri Lanka (YPBSL) strongly condemns the Presidential Candidate S. Fonseka’s shameless betrayal of our war heroes, by making false allegations against them.

According to a Sunday newspaper the retired Army Commander has said that General Shavendra Silva was ordered to eliminate all terrorist leaders giving in to the armed forces, by Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, during the final phase of the war.

The YPBSL is in the opinion that Sarath Fonseka’s statement is a blatant denigration of noble sacrifices made by our war heroes in liberating our motherland from the clutches of terrorism. We call on Fonseka to apologize to the nation in public rather than trying to eat out his own words at press briefings.

Also, we call on the government to take prompt legal action against this irresponsible and greedy politician whose actions are obviously detrimental to the nation’s progress.
