Opponent no challenge to President - Nandimitra

Former UNPer Parliamentarian Nandimithra Ekanayake who has been appointed the SLFP District organizer for Matale said he joined the Government after being impressed by its policies. He said he will mobilize the people of his district to ensure the victory of President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the upcoming election.

He said President Rajapaksa was the only leader who was able to defeat terrorism that was raging for decades in the country and that his opponent posed no challenge whatsoever to the President.

“It is the wish of the people that the President be re-elected, for bequeathing to them a country where they could now breath the air of freedom.”

He also said that neither the Opposition nor the Opposition candidate has a clear cut policy and that there were glaring contradictions in some of the statements made by them. “As SLFP organizer for the Matale District, I will rally all segments both from our party as well as the Opposition to seal the victory of the President,” he added.
