SSC, Colts, Tamil Union, Chilaw Marians in semis

The semi-final line up in the SLC Premier limited overs Tier ‘A’ tournament was completed despite the final three preliminary round matches being completely washed out due to bad weather in Colombo yesterday.

The final set of matches between Colts CC vs Baduraliya CC at Havelock Park, Moors SC vs Chilaw Marians SC at Braybrooke Place and Saracens SC vs Ragama CC at the NCC grounds in Maitland Place were abandoned without a ball being bowled. However Colts CC and Chilaw Marians SC were able to collect two vital points from their final outing which put them among the top four in the final points table. In fact Chilaw Marians SC finished second on the net run rate behind the table leaders Tamil Union.

Colts CC took the third place followed by SSC with the net run rate separating the two teams after they had collected 34 points each from their allotted eleven outings.

Tamil Union will now take on the SSC in the first semifinal at Maitland Place and Chilaw Marians SC will confront Colts CC at the P. Saravanamuttu Oval with both matches scheduled to be worked off on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the first semi-final of the SLC Premier limited overs Tier ‘B’ tournament between Panadura SC and Lankan CC was also abandoned without a ball being bowled at the P. Saravanamuttu Oval yesterday.
