Liyanage said that the Sports Festival organised by Tharunyata Hetak from October 21-25 was a resounding success. Nearly 60 teams participated in the six-a-side soft ball cricket tournament for the Janashakthi Trophy. From start to finish, the festival displayed a keen spirit of competitiveness and sportsmanship. Not concluding with this, Tharunyata Hetak has further planned to build ten new Volleyball Courts in Jaffna for the improvement of the sport.

A musical show was held at the Alfred Duraiyappa Stadium following the sports festival. During the musical show, the winning teams, First Place winners - Carmel Boys and Second Place winners - Star Sports, were awarded cash prizes and trophies. The prizes were presented to the winners by General Manager (Sales and Marketing) Ravi Liyanage, and Head of Marketing, Janashakthi Insurance PLC Paddy Weerasekera.

Chief Guests Minister Douglas Devananda, Governor of the Northern Province Major General G. A. Chandrasiri and Jaffna Government Agent K. Ganesh were present.

Over 100 staff members of Janashakthi branches in Chavakachcheri, Chunnakam and Nelliadi in the Jaffna district met thousands of people advising them on the advantages of insurance.

A special three-wheeler promotion was carried out where owners were given a special sticker. Displaying the sticker on the three-wheeler entitled them to a Rs. 100,000 accidental cover. It was not only offered to Janashakthi insurance policyholders but to all. Over 1,200 of these stickers were given during this special promotion.

A novel shop-to-shop campaign was also launched during this period to educate shop owners on the risks involved with fire and burglary. Every shop owner was given a sticker.

Janashakthi Insurance PLC as a part of its 15th anniversary program arranged to give employment opportunities to a thousand youth from the North and the East who are interested in pursuing a career in insurance. Up to now over 500 youth have secured employment in 13 Janashakthi Insurance branches in the North and East.

Managing Director, Janashakthi Insurance PLC Prakash Schaffter expressed confidence that Janashakthi would secure the top slot among all insurance providers in the Jaffna district. Pledging the Company's unstinted co-operation to the people of the North and East, Schaffter said that with its 100 branches Janashakthi was extremely pleased with its endeavour to inculcate the habit of insurance among the populace of the Northern province. "Our commitment to the people of the region is to share the highest possible benefits of insurance irrespective of caste, creed and religion", he said.
