ISMM anniversary
The Institute of Supply and Materials Management, (ISMM) the national
body recognized by an Act of Parliament for the promotion of the supply
and materials management profession in Sri Lanka celebrated its 37th
anniversary recently.
In collaboration with the Indian Institute of Materials Management,
ISMM organized a seminar on “Advancement of supply chain management in
the region”.

The 37th Anniversary Banquet and Get together was held at the Ceylon
Continental Hotel with Post Graduate Institute of Management, University
of Sri Jayawardenapura Director Dr. Uditha Liyanage as the Chief Guest
and Subhas Lovekar of the Indian Institute of Materials Management as
the Guest of Honour. He was accompanied by a team of 10 members from the
IIMM, India. Over 100 members of ISMM employed in the private and public
sectors attended the event.
The Institute of Supply and Materials Management which is an
affiliated member of IFPSM was represented by its President Chandima
Jayatillake with ISMM Past President Gerry Hidelaratchi and Senior
Delegate, Noel Wickramasinghe, Vice President, ISMM and S.T. Sriskanda,
member ISMM.
The Institute of Supply and Materials Management is the sole national
body devoted to the promotion and development of Techniques, Principles
and Practices of Purchasing and Supply Chain Management (PSCM) in Sri
Lanka.
The Institute was founded in October 1972 and was incorporated by an
Act of Parliament in 1981. The ISMM is a member of the Organization of
Professional Associations (OPA) of Sri Lanka, the apex body of all
recognized professions in Sri Lanka. The ISMM is affiliated to the world
body - the International Federation of Purchasing and Supply Management
(IFPSM).
In keeping with its objectives, the ISMM conducts several training
courses from basic Storekeeping level to Diploma Level to promote and
foster a high code of professional knowledge among all persons engaged
in Supply and Materials Management. In collaboration with the
International Trade Centre (ITC) based in Geneva, Switzerland, the ISMM
conducts a program of studies for the awarding of the Diploma in
International Purchasing and Supply Chain Management which is recognized
worldwide.
The World Summit organized by the International Federation of
Purchasing and Supply Chain Management was held recently in USA. The
Institute of Supply and Materials Management which is an affiliated
member of IFPSM was represented by its President Chandima Jayatillake
with ISMM Past President Gerry Hidelaratchi and Senior Delegate, ISMM
Vice President Noel Wickramasinghe and ISMM member S.T. Sriskanda. |
