China International Jewellery Show:
Sri Lanka strikes gold
A record number of exhibitors and visitors at the 29th China
International Jewellery Fair-Beijing held from November 5-9, at the
China International Exhibition Center, Beijing propelled the event to
unprecedented success with both exhibitors and buyers reporting an
increase in confirmed orders during the five day Fair.
Beijing is the capital and the most important media center of China.
It has amazing consumption market and trading environment for Gems and
Jewellery.
The market location of Beijing is playing an important role of
connection and guidance to China, especially to the northern region of
China. It has represented a considerable share of the Chinese Jewellery
market. The exhibition venue was more than 30,000 sqm of spaces which
facilitated over 1500 trading booths.
Encouraging results were recorded at the 2009 edition of the Fair,
with 63,000 buyers from 48 countries and regions attending, while
domestic buyers came from 24 provinces, autonomous regions and
municipalities.
The 2009 edition was the largest in the Show’s 29 year history and
set records in terms of visitors, exhibitors and exhibition space.
Continuing last year’s success, this year’s event attracted over 1500
exhibitors from the USA, Italy, China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Taiwan,
Turkey and Sri Lnaka to feature their exclusive products.
A vast variety of magnificent jewellery products of excellent
craftsmanship showcased at the five-day event included glistening gold
jewellery, fashionable platinum and silver jewellery, prestigious pearl,
diamond, jade and gemset jewellery, fine diamonds and fine quality gems.
Packaging and display materials and related products and services
were also displayed, making it a highly professional souring platform
for the jewellery industry.
The Sri Lanka Pavilion at the China International Jewellery Fair 2009
was organized by the National Gem and Jewellery Authority (NGJA) for the
first time with the collaboration of Sri Lanka Gem and Jewellery
Association (SLGJA) and Sri Lnaka Embassy in Beijing.
The National Pavilion which displayed a glittering array of gems and
jewellery from Sri Lanka presented by eighteen members of the trade
(highest participation at a gem and jewellery exhibition) attracted
buyers from China and other leading consuming countries.
The members of the National Pavilion were successful in securing
orders for fine quality gems and calibrated sapphires and establishing
its position as the leading producer of the quality Blue Sapphires to
the global market. |
