Sampath Bank beat Union Assurance PLC by 84 points to 64 in a Delmege Super League ‘A’ Division Basketball match played at Otter’s Aquatic Club Courts yesterday.

Sampath Bank was in the lead 38 points to 25 at half time.

Werantha Bastian made valuable contribution for the winning team with 26 points. Mitila Abesekera bagged 14 points and Sisira Chaturanga got 13 while Chaminda de Alwis collected 21 points for the Union Assurance team.

Aruna Wickramage bagged 19 and Isuru Perera 12 points. Hatton National Bank defeated Ranawana and Co by 76 points to 57 in a Delmege Super League ‘B’ Division match played at the same venue.

Ranawana and Co. was in the lead at half time (33 points to 32).

Y. Reebert was the top scorer for the winning team with 22 points. Roshan Fernando (10 points) and Rashan Ruwanga (16 points) made valuable contributions.

37 teams (31 Men’s, 6 women’s) are participating in the Delmege Super League Basketball tournament which is conducted by Mercantile Services Basketball Association and sponsored by Delmege Forsyth and Co.Ltd.
