Lotus Posture (Padma Asana)
This is called Padma Asana since it takes the shape
of a bloomed lotus flower:
Step 1
Bend your left leg and rest it on the thigh and keep your right hand
on the ankle as it is in the picture
Step 2
Release the left leg and follow the step 1 with your right leg and as
seen in the picture. Move the leg up and down
Step 3
Release the leg once again and keep the leg comfortably on your
thigh. (For some left leg is more comfortable and for some it is right)
Outcomes of the Asana
This increases your concentration power as it helps to straighten
your back bone which affects brain cells positively.
It also heals joint pains since this is an exercise for the whole
body.
By practising this position for meditation you can obtain a whole
range of benefits which improve concentration power, cleansing of blood
and resistance to illnesses. This should be avoided by people with leg
injuries and have undergone back bone surgeries. Model: Nayani Bernard
