In the girls quarter finals of the ITF (Junior circuit week 1) tennis
tournament played yesterday at the SLTA courts saw Sri Lanka’s most
popular and talented, Ameertha Muttiah seeded No. 3 bow out of the
singles contest, when she tamely lost to India’s Divija Mandava the No.
6 seed.
The other Indian girl who gave of her best was the No. 2 Tarrannum
Handa who beat Tyra Kottuwattegedara (Swiz).
The two Chinese girls Siyu Qin and Yen Wang did well to defeat
India’s Zainab Ali Sajjad and Spurti Sivalingam respectively.
The lanky nonchalant Sri Lankan T. Dineshkanthan, the fourth seed
though lackadaisical in his approach to be deceptive is most wiry and
fleet of foot on the court has done well to win the first and second
round matches and yesterday’s quarter final match against Korea’s
Kawangik Jang.
India’s Sidharth Sivakumar seeded No. 1 is following Dienshkanthan
having won his first and second round matches and his quarter finals
match against Germany’s David Rennhak.
In the semi-finals this morning Dineshkanthan meet china’s Zhaoyi
while Sivakumar will take on China’s J.N. Jao.
