Britain pledges support for IDP rehabilitation

Visiting British International Development Minister Mike Foster has pledged support for the Government's efforts in the rehabilitation of the IDPs of the North and towards the ongoing de-mining process, Rehabilitation and Disaster Relief Services Ministry officials said yesterday.

The British Minister made an official visit to the IDP villages and centres in Vavuniya and Mannar where he met the IDPs, the official said. Minister Foster held talks with Minister Rishard Bathiutheen where he was briefed about the progress being made and the facilities provided for resettlement of IDPs.

It was during these talks that the visiting British Minister had pledged continued support from Britain towards the rehabilitation and resettlement process, official sources said.
