Renown SC moves to top spot

Renown Sports Club for the first time came onto the top of the points
table when they trained Jupiter SC 6-2 in their Dialog champions league
encounter played in Negombo on Sunday. Renown SC were tied for the
second place with Ratnam SC with both teams having obtained 10 points
each. But the victory over Jupitors SC in Group ‘A’ put them ahead of
the leaders Sri Lanka Air Force who led the table with 12 points Renown
at the Lemons had a fine lead 4-0 and went onto add two more goals in
the second session, while their opponents two scored two goals.
In a Group ‘B’ match the leaders in Don Bosco SC managed to maintain
their top position beating Negombo Youth Sports Club three goals to nil.
The addition of three points from this game gave them a clear lead of
five points to be ahead of second placed Sri Lanka Army who had a total
of 9 points.
Upto last week end group ‘A’ teams have completed their first round
games meanwhile in group ‘B’ except for Blue Star SC and New Youngs SC
the other four teams have finished their round one matches.
Old Bens playing Group A is the only team that have lost all their
matches played so far and occupies the last slot, while Negombo Youth SC
is placed last in Group B has collected three points from one win. |
