Kuruwita town will be developed

Kuruwita town in the Ratnapura District will be developed as a city with adequate provisions for Sri Pada devotees and tourists by using funds of Rs. 150 million from the Urban Development Ministry, said Power and Energy Minister W.D.J. Seneviratne.

The Sri Pada devotees have been facing difficulties due to the lack of basic facilities in the Kuruwita city which they pass on their pilgrimage.

The new shopping complex constructed by the Urban Development Ministry under the project spending Rs. 40 million was opened recently for the public by Urban Development Minister Dinesh Gunawardena.

A new bus halt and a resting hall will also be constructed under this.
