Call to renew licences

Public Utilities Commission Director General Prof. Ranjith Perera has requested the stakeholders of Electrical Power Generation, Transmission, Distributing or Supplying sector including Ceylon Electricity Board to renew their licences which were issued under Sri Lanka Electrical Power Act. No. 19 of 1950, to renew or apply for exemption on or before October 7, in accordance with the new Sri Lanka Electrical Power Act. No.20 of 2009.

The licences issued on April 7 by Public Utilities Commission to such parties will be terminated on November 7, he added.

The applicants should submit their applications according to the regulations published in the extraordinary gazette notification of No.1617/34 dated September 3, 2009 released by the Power and Energy Minister under the stipulations of the new Act.
