Colombo clinch Carlton Cup

Colombo Basketball Club clinched the ‘A’ Division Championship of the
Carlton Cup Open Basketball Tournament defeating Otters Aquatic Club by
75 points to 57 in the final played at Depot Police Courts yesterday.
Otters AC was in the lead by 30 points to 29 at half time. Roshan
Chandima (21 points), Faizal Mohammed (15 points), and Roshan Fernando
(13 points) made valuable contributions for the winning team while
Thisara Chathuranga was the top scorer for the Otters AC with 21 points.
Gayan Meedeniya collected 18 points.
Old Bens take ‘B’ Division Title
Old Bens Basketball Club emerged ‘B’ Division champions in the
Carlton Cup Open Basketball tournament beating Field Force Youth
Basketball Club by 69 points to 65 in the final played at Depot Police
Courts yesterday.
Old Bens BC was in the lead by 31 points to 22 at half time. Clinton
Stalon made a valuable contribution for the winners scoring 24 points.
Udayanga Perera obtained 13 points and Thushan de Mel scored 10 points.
Chathura Hewal-unuwelage collected 15 points for Field Force Youth.
Chameera Bandara scored 11 and Shian Dole obtained 10 points.
Sarath Ekanayake, Chief Minister of Central Province and President of
Sri Lanka Basketball Federation was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
Leisha de Silva Chandrasena, Chairperson of Sri Lanka Telecom, Namal
Rajapaksa, President of Tharunyata Hetak Organization, Yoshitha
Rajapaksa, Vice President of Tharunyata Hetak Organization, Upali
Wijesiri, Chairman of Solex Engineering also graced the occasion. |
