Army flag blessing ceremony

The Sri Lanka Army flag blessing ceremony to bless all the flags of the Army units was held yesterday at the Sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura under the patronage of Army Commander Lt. General Jagath Jayasuriya. The flag blessing ceremony also marked the start of the 60 th anniversary celebrations of the Army.

The flag of the Sri Lanka Army and the flags of its Security Forces Headquarters, Area Headquarters, Sub Area Headquarters, Divisions, Task Forces, Brigades, Regiments and Battalions were blessed after they were brought in procession to the Sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi by respective heads and placed there by the Army Commander.

Atamasthanadhipathi, Ven. Dr. Pallegama Sirinivasa Nayaka Thera and the Chief Incumbent of the Ruvan Meli Maha Seya Ven. Pallegama Hemarath-ana Thera along with the Nayaka Theras of the Atamasthana blessed the Army Commander and Army personnel.

Army Commander Lt. General Jagath Jayasuriya offered Rs.1 million to Atamasthanadhipathi during the religious ceremony.
