Fourteen new meet records

Fourteen new meet records were established and one was equalled in the all island school games which concluded at Sugathadasa Stadium yesterday.

Milantha Sampath of Polpithigama National School (high jump - 7.30 m) and S. R. J. P. Senanayake of St. Joseph's Balika MV, Kegalle (12.41 sec in the 100 m) were adjudged the most outstanding men's and women's athletes.

Western Province clinched the overall athletic championship with 834 points, Central Province came second with (448 points) and Sabaragamuwa Province finished third collecting 310 points.

New meet records

Thanuja Shanmugarasa of Arunothaya College, Jaffna - Pole vault 2.81m (under 19).

Chamathka Kavinda of Gateway International School - Javelin throw 39.37 m (under 17).

S. A. Chandima Samaratunga of St. Joseph's Nugegoda - Javelin 53.30 m (under 15).

Charith Kapukotuwa of Royal College, Colombo - Discus throw 43.80 m (under 21).

J. M. Ishara Udayangi of Yasodara Balika, Colombo - Pole vault 2.90 (under 21).

R. A. Chamika Jayamini of Sumana Balika, Ratnapura - 1,500 m. 4:42.99 sec (under 17).

J. A. N. s. Jayasingha of St. Joseph's Balika, Kegalle - 100 m, 12.31 sec. (under 21).

M. Udara Silva of Maris Stella, Negombo - High jump 2.08 m (under 21).

9. W. Amanthi Silva of St. Bridge's Convent - Shot putt 10.10 m (under 15).

Adisha Isuri Nilaweera of St. Mary's Convent, Matara - Triple jump 11.29 m (under 17).

11. D. A. H. Wijesinghe of St. Joseph's Balika, Kegalle - 100 m Hurdles 11.83 sec (under 21).

W. T. Kumudumali Fernando of Good Shepherd Convent, Panadura - Shot putt 12.62 m (under 21).

S. R. J. P. Senanayake of St. Joseph's Balika, Kegalle - 100 m first round 12.41 m (under 17).

A. Ratnayake MMV, Walala - 400 x 4 - 3:18.53 (under 21 boys).
