Suwen Selvaratnam the main winner

The Captains Cup golf tournament a premier board event for ladies held on September 23 and 25 at the Royal Colombo Golf Club was brought to a close on the evening of Saturday September 26 at the RCGC with an impressive awards ceremony that was most memorable.

The lady captain RCGC, Manori Jayakody in her address said she was grateful for the presence and support given by the President of the RCGC, J.J. Ambani and its Captain, Lal Dias, the players from here and those from Victoria for their active participation, that had around 30 lady golfers vying for championship honours.

She was conscious and mindful of the generosity extended for the event by Jerome Auvity (GM Hilton) W. Swasdibutri (GM Thai Airways), Malik Fernando (Director Stallion Plantation), Shantha Wijesinghe, Vinod Hirdramani and Ishitha Mannapperuma. Manori also stood thankful to Ann Captain Suwen Selvaratnam, Radha Sundarampillai and the members of the committee for the hard work put into make the event a success.

RESULTS

Daily prizes - Handicap 0-36 to be given by Ann Captain

1st day winner - H. Ritchie 35 pts: runner up - Chris Benjamin 32 pts.

2nd day winner - Myungock Jane Hone 36 pts: runner up - Roshani Sangani 34 pts.

Special prizes

Winner - best aggregate cross stableford points on par 3's - Nadine Jayaratne - 30 pts: winner - best aggregate nett stableford points on par 3's - J.S. Kim Choo - 23 pts.

Guest prizes - to be given by Manori Jayakody

Winner - non member S. Boyle 60 pts: runner up - non member Linda Harris 47 pts.

Handicap category 25-36 prizes to be given by Fareeda Macan Markar

Winner - Sharma Perera - 68 pts: runner up - M.C. Sellayah - 67 pts.

Gross Prizes - to be given by Lilamini Weeraratne

Winner - best gross stableford points Shayanika Fernando 60 runner up - best gross stableford points J. Dias 57
