All set for SPC election

All arrangements have been made for Southern Provincial Council Election.

There are 1,761,859 registered voters in 21 electorates in the province - 7,61,815 in Galle district, 578,858 in Matara district and 421,186 in Hambantota district according to the Elections Commissioner.

The postal voting will commence on September 29 and end on September 30.

There are 31,152 registered postal voters, of this 14,760 voters are from the Galle district, 8,390 in Matara district and 8,002 voters are in Hambantota district.

The Elections Secretariat will set up 670 polling centres in Galle District, 442 in Matara district and 373 in the Hambantota district.

The Elections Secretariat will set up 161 counting centres in Galle, Matara and Hambantota districts including 13 centres to count postal votes.

The Southern Provincial Council Election will be held on October 10, according to the election officials.
