Lanka re-elected first Vice Chairman of CTO

Director General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) Priyantha Kariyapperuma has been re-elected as the first Vice Chairman of the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organization (CTO) at its Council meeting held in Nadi, Fiji from September 17-18.

CTO is the official body which deals with telecommunications and delivers knowledge sharing program of the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in specific areas of telecommunications, information technology and broadcasting as well as the internet within the Commonwealth countries.

CTO assists ICT stakeholders to adopt and live with change, by providing consulting and advisory services. The Headquarters of the CTO is based in London and comprises 50 full and associate Commonwealth member countries.

The members of the CTO unanimously decided to hold the 50th Commonwealth Organization Council meeting in Sri Lanka in year 2010.
