Musical colours on two pianos
Two of our well-known pianists Ramya de Livera Perera and Soundarie
David Rodrigo will combine to display a spectrum of colour on two pianos
at 7.30 tomorrow (29) at Lionel Wendt Theatre. The program will include
pieces from the great masters from the classical period to popular
Gershwin numbers.

A set of variations on a theme by Haydn, composed specially by Brahms
is a master piece of its own. A simple melody variated with great
artistry.
The theme of the famous melody of Paganini’s 24th Caprice, which
appealed to many composers takes on a virtuosic yet tuneful composition
by the Polish composer Lutowslawski. Some of the other exciting works in
the program consists of light, lively dialogue between 2 pianos. The
ever-popular Scaramouche by Milhaud shares many vivacious moments with
the influence of Latin American rhythms.
Both Ramya and Soundarie are committed and passionate about the
repertoire they have selected, for the concert. They feel the range of
colour that is used by these composers is phenomenal and are looking
forward to explore its diversity during their combined musical journey,
this evening. Ramya’s dedication to nurturing talents of young students
to reach high standards, be it for examinations or for the real love and
feel for music, has been greatly appreciated through the years.
Soundarie balances her career as a Pianist and Music Director of Soul
Sounds, with that of being a lawyer. |
